Dr. Davis joined the faculty of the University of New Haven in August 2010 as a Lecturer of Chemistry. Prior to coming to UNH, he was an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and a Visiting Instructor of Chemistry at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. Before becoming a chemist, Dr. Davis served as a Coast Guard Officer both at sea and ashore.
Dr. Davis’s research interests are in the field of synthetic organic electrochemistry. His current projects involve the anodic oxidation of aryl alkenes, as well as the direct computation of absolute redox potentials using density functional theory combined with polarized-continuum methods of approximating solvation effects.
Dr. Davis is currently acting as the General Chemistry Lecture and Lab Coordinator for CH 115-118.
