Statement of Interest
Patricia (Pat) Maiorino has been a member of the education department since 1998, first, as an adjunct while still teaching in the K-12 arena, and then as a Practitioner-in- Residence following her retirement from public school teaching. Pat’s 34 years as an English teacher and department chairperson at North Branford High School have significantly influenced the many courses she teaches at UNH. She brings her passion and experience for teaching itself and the English language arts to all of her classes.
Since she is married to another department member, Nick, it is difficult to separate her professional and personal life. When not thinking or talking about education, the Maiorino’s enjoy fine dining and would love to write restaurant reviews. As the education department knows, if you need a restaurant suggestion or are planning a party, they are the ones with whom to speak. Time at home is spent with their 3 rescue cats, a young mom (Maeve) and 2 of her kittens (Ronan and Fiona) adopted from Forgotten Felines in Clinton. Their “fur children” keep them constantly entertained with their antics. If you are confused by the clearly Irish kitty names and the decidedly Italian surname, Pat is trying to protect her Irish heritage.
