Shoushan Soapstone Carvings from the Wellington Wang Collection

This exhibit included nearly 30 intricate Chinese Shoushan soapstone sculptures depicting auspicious symbols, Buddhist imagery, Daoist imagery, and seals selected from the extensive Wellington Wang collection recently donated to the University of New Haven. Wellington Wang is a passionate lifelong collector of Asian artifacts and is one of the world's foremost collectors of Chinese artifacts scattered throughout Europe and the United States after China's Cultural Revolution.
