Statement
As a licensed Naturopathic Physician, I have a strong background in clinical medicine, and use this framework to take a holistic approach to science education. In the classroom I take the reductionist approach initially to explore cellular, molecular, and biochemical structure and dynamics, and then relate these to the complex interplay of tissue and organ systems within the organism and interactions with the environment. The connections and implications for clinical and biomedical issues are also explored. A natural extension of this holistic educational approach is my focus on experiential education and mentorship. I believe that mentorship outside of the classroom is a key component to an enriching academic experience. To that end, I assist students with thesis projects, advise several student organizations, and act as faculty liaison for UNH athletic teams to facilitate educational opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.
