VA Educational Benefit Programs

Veterans should rely on official VA documentation and policies in determining your own eligibility for benefits.

As such, we encourage all our veteran students to contact a VA Benefits Counselor directly to discuss their own application including:

  • Which benefit program(s) you would qualify for?
  • If qualified for multiple programs, which benefit pays more?
  • If you are presently receiving other aid, will that entitlement change?
  • Do you have any remaining eligibility under other VA Educational Programs?
  • What type of training/education will be pursued (and is that type of training covered under the benefit program)?
  • Where will you be living while pursuing the training?
  • Is the time frame to utilize benefits important?
  • Are you eligible for Transfer of Entitlement (and do you want to transfer entitlement)?

  1. Post 9/11 GI Bill

    The Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) provides financial support for education and housing to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

    - Yellow Ribbon Program : Only veterans entitled to 100% of the Post 9/11 GI Bill (based on service requirements) or their designated transferees may receive this funding. Active duty servicemembers and their spouses are not eligible for this program (child transferees of active duty servicemembers may be eligible if the servicemember is qualified at the 100% rate).

  2. Montgomery GI Bill

    The Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (MGIB-AD provides up to 36 months of education benefits. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release from active duty

    Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve MGIB-SR program may be available to you if you are a member of the Selected Reserve. The Selected Reserve includes the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. You may be entitled to receive up to 36 months of education benefits.

  3. Dependent Assistance

    Survivors’ and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program (DEA) provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of certain veterans. The program offers up to 45 months of education benefits. These benefits may be used for degree and certificate programs, apprenticeship, and on-the-job training. If you are a spouse, you may take a correspondence course. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances.
