Arabic Language and Culture-Area Studies Minor
This minor combines courses in basic, intermediate, advanced, and intensive language, as well as translation, literature and the media, and area studies. If students begin at a level beyond ARBC 1102, they can take additional courses from the area studies category to meet the 18-credit hour requirement.

A total of 18 credits in art is required for the minor in art.

Bioengineering Minor
No rigid group of courses constitutes a minor in bioengineering. Students wishing to follow such a program should major in one aspect of engineering and take a minor (20 credits) in biology, or the biology major program may be combined with a minor or concentration in engineering. Students should consult with the particular engineering and biology department chairs before starting the program.

Biology Minor
The minor in biology is intended for students who wish to enhance their biology background in order to complement their major, broadly explore curriculum across the department, and/or focus on a concentration or prepare for post-graduate degree or career. Prior to declaring their biology minor, students must develop a plan of study approved by the Biology Program Coordinator.

Chinese Language and Culture-Area Studies Minor
This minor combines courses in basic, intermediate, advanced, and intensive language, literature and the media, and area studies. If students begin at a level beyond CHIN 1102, they can take additional courses from the area studies category to meet the 18-credit hour requirement.

Communication Minor
A total of 18 credits of communication courses must be earned in order for a student to declare the area of study as a completed minor. This work must include COMM 1100 - Human Communication. The additional credits are chosen in consultation with the adviser.

Creative Writing Minor
Five courses in creative writing and one additional course in modern/contemporary literature, selected by the student in consultation with an English Department advisor, are required for the minor in Creative Writing (18 credits hours).

Digital Art and Design Minor
The minor in Digital Art and Design offers students the opportunity to explore creativity through forms of digital media. 18 credit hours are required.

Environmental Science Minor
The minor in environmental science provides a useful background for students majoring in other areas who have concern for the environment. For example, students majoring in political science might well combine their program with a minor in environmental science. Another useful combination is an environmental science minor and a major in business administration or engineering.

Game Design and Interactive Media Minor
This minor provides a broad exploration of how games are built, technically and artistically, as well as how they function as artistic and cultural expressions. A total of 18 credits in art is required for this minor.

Global Studies Minor
The Global Studies program offers several focus areas for students from other disciplines who wish to enhance their degree program. The minor in global studies consists of 18 credits. All students must complete GLBS 1100 - Introduction to Global Studies. In consultation with their adviser and the Coordinator for Global Studies, they will additionally select five courses from one of the focus areas as listed here.

Graphic Design Minor
The minor in Graphic Design offers students the opportunity to have an introductory exposure to concepts, vocabulary, history, and methods of the graphic design discipline. 18 credit hours are required.

History Minor
A total of 15 credits in history is required for a minor in history. Students should consult history faculty to determine the courses that best align with their goals and interests.

Illustration Minor
The minor in Illustration offers students the opportunity to have an introductory exposure to concepts, vocabulary, history, and methods of illustration.

Interior Design Minor
The minor in Interior Design prepares students to collaborate with the field of interior design and architecture through hand and digital architectural drawing and rendering.

Italian Studies Minor
The minor combines courses in basic, intermediate, and advanced language, as well as literature, history, and Italian culture. If students begin at a level beyond ITAL 1102 , they can take additional area study courses to meet the 18-credit hour requirement. Advanced courses and additional area study under ITAL course code are taught entirely in Italian.

Legal Studies Minor
A minor in legal studies does not prepare students to become paralegals, is not an ABA approved program option, and is distinct from the Paralegal Certificate program. The ABA approved Paralegal Certificate program has specific legal specialty course requirements, while the minor only requires completion of LSTD 1100 Introduction to Legal Concepts plus any five other legal studies (LSTD) courses. A student who wants to obtain both a minor and Paralegal Certificate, must take a minimum of 27 LSTD credits (9 courses) and fulfill the requirements of both the Paralegal Certificate and a minor, since no more than three courses may overlap.

Marine Affairs Minor
A minor in Marine Affairs provides valuable knowledge and skills for students from a variety of disciplines such as marine biology, economics, legal studies, engineering, etc. who are broadly interested in environmental policy and sustainability in the context of marine and coastal resource use. The Marine Affairs minor requires completion of a minimum of 18 credits.

Marine Biology Minor
The minor in marine biology offers students across the university the opportunity to enhance their degree program while gaining a deeper understanding of the ocean and the organisms that live there. The minor consists of a minimum of 19 credits. All students must complete MARN 2200 Oceanography and MARA 2223 /MARA 2225 Marine Biology with Laboratory and will select one organismal course and one marine biology restricted elective in consultation with an advisor from the program. This minor is open to students in the B.A. Marine Affairs program with the following restriction: students who minor in Marine Biology may not use MARN 3331, MARN 4440, or MARN 4444 as restricted electives in the Marine Affairs program.

Mathematics Minor
Students may minor in mathematics by completing five mathematics courses (a minimum of 16 credits) approved by the Department. Those students contemplating a minor in mathematics should consult with the Department as early as possible in their academic careers as to the choice and availability of courses.

Museum Studies Minor
A total of 18 credits is required for the minor in Museum Studies.

Music Minor
A total of 18 credits in music courses (other than performance) is required for the minor in music. A student’s program should be planned in consultation with a member of the music faculty.

Music Industry Minor
The minor in Music Industry requires 15 credit hours, including courses whose topics include music industry principles, music distribution, publishing, and a commercial music genre.

Music Technology Minor
The minor in Music Technology requires 18 credit hours, including courses whose topics include recording fundamentals, digital audio and digital audio workstations, and studio recording.

Philosophy Minor
A student in this program must complete 15 credits.

Photography Minor
A total of 18 credits is required for the minor in Photography.

Physics Minor
The physics minor requires a total of 20 credits of work in physics. Students should plan their minor in consultation with a faculty adviser in the Physics Department.

Political Science Minor
The Department of Human Sciences offers several course clusters for students from other disciplines who wish to enhance their degree programs. The minor consists of 18 credits of political science courses, chosen with a departmental adviser. Several three-course clusters are suggested for inclusion in the minor to address particular interests. In each case, nine additional credits are to be chosen in consultation with a departmental adviser.

Professional and Technical Writing Minor
Two required courses in professional and technical writing and four additional elective courses in professional and technical writing, speaking, design, and/or editing, selected by the student in consultation with an English Department Advisor, are required for the minor in Professional and Technical Writing (18 credit hours).

Psychology (General) Minor
Psychology, perhaps more than any other subject, relates closely to many other disciplines. A minor in psychology prepares you for graduate study in the field and can add another dimension to your studies in other programs at the University. A total of six courses is required for a minor in psychology.

Race and Ethnic Studies Minor
The minor in Race and Ethnic Studies is an interdisciplinary program offered in the College of Arts and Sciences and housed in the Department of Interdisciplinary Programs. To provide students the tools and competencies to participate in a multi-racial and ethnic society and to be reflective about their racial and ethnic identities, the program provides students with a diversity of approaches to ethnicity and the concept of race in the United States and abroad. Course offerings are a mix of social science, the humanities, and legal studies. The minor consists of courses in English, communication history, political science, sociology, philosophy and music. A student may minor in this program by completing 18 credits.

Sociology Minor
A minimum of 18 credits (6 courses) is required for the minor in sociology. There are two plans of study for obtaining the minor.

Spanish Language and Culture-Latin American Studies Minor
This minor combines courses in basic, intermediate, advanced, and intensive language, as well as conversation, literature and the media, and area studies. If students begin at a level beyond SPAN 1102, they can take additional courses from the area studies category to meet the 18-credit hour requirement.

Business Analytics Minor
The minor in Business Analytics conveys advanced technical skills to students; a skill set which aims to analyze and visualize patterns in newly abundant data to address questions relevant to the firm. The minor provides the student with a strong foundation in the business analytics tools commonly used across various disciplines; these include supervised- and unsupervised-machine learning techniques, database management, and visualization. All course materials are taught using the R programing language. A total of 15 credits is required for the minor in business analytics.

Requirements for the minor in management, for non-business majors only, include 18 credits.

Economics Minor
Students of other majors may choose to pursue a 15-credit minor in Economics, which includes two required courses- EC 133, Principles of Economics I (an introduction to macroeconomics) and EC 134, Principles of Economics II (an introduction to microeconomics)-and three additional courses (15 credits) from one of the four course-cluster lists immediately below-all with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Entrepreneurship Minor (Business program majors)
The University offers a minor in entrepreneurship as a means of preparing students who are considering a business start-up, purchasing an existing business, or joining the family business following graduation. The minor may also provide an "intrapreneurship" foundation for students who aspire to work in big business. As such, the minor pursues a multidisciplinary approach to entrepreneurship that integrates the business disciplines with communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Moreover, the program merges theory into practice by linking emerging academic developments with the most effective business approaches. Students will begin with foundational courses introducing gaming hardware and software, the business of competitive gaming and esports, and an introduction to the field of game studies. Marketing Analytics Minor
The marketing analytics minor is designed to provide students with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge essential for a modern-day firm’s increasing reliance on marketing analytics. Marketing analytics as a discipline consists of a variety of business processes for data, information, and knowledge management and a wide range of analytical tools for performing analyses of qualitative and quantitative data. The ultimate goal of using marketing analytics in marketing is to deploy data-driven, evidence-based thinking in the service of strategic and tactical marketing decisions and taking advantage of the large data sources made available by the social media. Marketers today understand that the innovative and efficient use of the data available within and outside of an enterprise can be the single most important reason for their success. Graduates with a marketing analytics minor will be positioned for any number of new marketing jobs including market analytics developer, marketing analyst, database marketer, social media manager, digital marketing solution designer, or forecasting and planning analyst. Professional Sales Minor (Business program majors only)
Students completing the professional sales minor will learn to apply sales theories, employ the foundations of selling, understand buyers, employ communication skills, apply selling strategies, initiate customer relationships, approach customers and deliver sales presentations. Students in the sales minor will be prepared to utilize well-developed and rational decision-making methodologies in handling customer dealings, participate in team selling, employ techniques of self-leadership, and coordinate and execute activities that support the creation of goods and services.

The minor in Health Administration will provide students from across a range of majors with the chance to learn about the U.S. healthcare system. Course offerings include instruction on health professions, the organization of the U.S. healthcare system, healthcare financing, laws and regulations governing healthcare practices, and standards for healthcare leadership. 15 credits are required.

Civil Engineering Minor
Students are required to complete 18 credits of civil engineering courses for the minor. With the approval of the program coordinator, engineering majors may substitute other civil engineering courses for a minor. Students must fulfill all prerequisites for courses chosen.

Sustainability Studies Minor
The minor in Sustainability Studies is directed toward students seeking to better understand environmental considerations in industry, government, non-profit, and academic institutions. The minor takes a problem-solving approach to the discipline as students learn to apply broad knowledge to specific institutional, local, or global problems. Systems Engineering Minor
Students enrolled in bachelor degree programs at the University of New Haven may opt to take a minor in systems engineering by completing 18 credits. Curriculum covers current topics in systems engineering including system concepts, system thinking, system design, reliability, maintainability, design for manufacture and assembly, and quality program concepts, such as Six Sigma.
