SURF Program - Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship
Students' proposals are reviewed and awards made by a faculty committee chaired by the Associate Provost for Graduate Studies and one faculty scholar from each college, each appointed by the dean of that college. Student fellowships include a summer stipend, room and partial board, an allowance for research and report supplies and an award certificate.

Honors Program - Student Thesis Reports
The UNH Honors Program is designed for exceptionally motivated students who have shown high levels of academic achievement. The university requires every student, regardless of major, to take core courses in a number of general areas. The Honors Program offers students an intellectually exciting and challenging way to satisfy some of these core requirements.
In their senior year, students research and write an Honors thesis on a topic in their major discipline under the guidance of a faculty member in the major department. Students may arrange with their department for up to three academic credits for work on the Honors thesis. The results of the research are to be presented orally to members of the student's major department and to members of the faculty Honors Committee.

Faculty Mentored Research
The University of New Haven wants to encourage you to include Faculty Mentored Undergraduate Research in your academic program. Research is any serious, significant inquiry or investigation that makes an original, intellectual, or creative contribution to a branch of learning. This can include scientific, scholarly or artistic activities. If you are thinking of graduate school, or your career goals, considering doing some mentored research while you are here. Undergraduate research provides an excellent structure for the interaction of a mentor with a student and an important opportunity to put into practice the principles of experiential education. Including research on your resume suggests you are motivated to learn through original problem solving. It can open new opportunities and inspire you in new ways. To help you on your way we have developed a list of faculty, and their research interests who welcome your questions about research. Talk to your academic advisor about an independent study and talk with one of these faculties about getting involved in research! UNH Faculty love to talk with students who share their interests.
