Dr. Perry began his career as a high school social studies teacher in Connecticut in 1969 and served as a private school headmaster in New York from 1974 to 1985. Prior to coming to the university, he was a public high school principal in two Connecticut school systems from 1985 to 2006. In 1997, Dr. Perry was selected as the U.S. representative to an international team of educators contracted by the Republic of Ukraine to advise the Ministry of Education on how to improve the quality of education in the Republic. He continued his consulting in Ukraine independently from 1998 to 2001. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Association of Schools and has chaired NEASC high school accreditation committees in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
