On the July 12th weekend, more than 1,000 artists, would-be artists, and enthusiastic colorers in West Haven — including 30 UNH students and staff — attempted to break the Guinness Book of World Records for Largest Chalk Pavement Art.
Did they? Nobody knows. The skies opened up on the night of the 14th and washed away their creations, along with any hope of documenting the area they covered.
But the storms did nothing to dampen everyone’s enthusiasm for “Chalkville,” which took place at West Haven High School. Community spirit got a monumental boost, as the event brought together a diverse group, all intent on the same goal — putting West Haven on the map. UNH was proud to be a part of that effort!
