Building A Winning Team For Your Family Business

Many believe your business is only as good as your team.  Do you work together as a team to solve day-to-day and long term problems?  On the evening of Tuesday, January 29 or the morning of January 30, you will have an opportunity to find out who the leaders are, and how well each of you functions on a team.

This very interactive program is designed to get you out of your seats and into groups where you will have a little fun working together at some very interesting challenges.  Dress casually and comfortably.  You are encouraged to bring your own team to see how well you work together, but if you come alone, you will still see how you perform in a team environment.

Come prepared to be a bit adventurous and have some fun while developing critical skills needed to work successfully with your Family Business Team.

How to Get to YES  When the Road is Paved with NO presented by Joshua Weiss

Joshua Weiss, Ph.D., is the co-founding senior fellow of the Global Negotiation Institute of the Harvard Negotiation Project.  Joshua’s goal in this program is to make YOU a better negotiator.  Business, like life, is a series of negotiations.  To be successful, you must be able to effectively negotiate with your customers, suppliers, employees and your family members.  This program will give you the tools you need to master the art of negotiation.  You will learn to navigate through deadlocks and to deal with people whom you deem untrustworthy or just quite different from yourself.  You will learn to focus on interests rather than positions, and how to employ objective criteria.  You will leave armed with strategies and tactics which give you the edge in all your negotiations.  You will be better prepared to handle family issues as well as grievances, regardless of where anyone appears on the organizational chart.

We encourage you to invite both key employees and family members to join you for this empowering conference.

What’s Your Plan? Our CFB Sponsors have helped prepare you for change throughout our 2013 conference series.  Tonight, they will discuss something that never changes:  the importance of thoughtful planning for your business and your family.  As successful business owners, you know it takes vision, preparedness, skills and desire to achieve business success.  But without proper planning, your business can collapse with the onset of a single lifealtering event. In this conference, you will hear from some real businesses as they face issues common to many family firms.  Our sponsors will tell you how they would advise these families, and you will have an opportunity to ask your own questions.  Topics will include succession planning, business continuation planning, and retirement planning.  You will want to bring your family members with you, and start a dialogue regarding the status of your own family business planning.
