First-Year Honor Society

Welcome to the University of New Haven Chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta,
the National Honor Society for First-Year Students


Mission Statement:

"The purpose of Alpha Lambda Delta is to encourage superior academic attainment among students in their first year in institutions of higher education, to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their unique roles in society."


Email invitations will be sent to qualified members in January at the end of the fall semester. If you do not receive an invitation and believe you are eligible for membership, please e-mail us at

Alpha Lambda Delta membership is open to new freshman students who:

  • Complete a minimum of 12 credit hours during their first fall semester at UNH
  • Have at least a 3.5 GPA and you must be in the top 20% of your class during your first term
  • Complete a membership application form by the posted deadline date
  • Pay the required dues by the posted deadline date.
