The Institute of Social Justice

The University of New Haven’s Institute of Social Justice, comprised of students, faculty, staff, and community partners, promotes political, economic, and social justice on campus and in the surrounding community.

The Institute ensures that the needs, perspectives, and goals of persons from historically marginalized groups and individuals are considered and incorporated into campus life. In addition, the Institute seeks to challenge the status quo, when necessary, by balancing the goals and perspectives of traditional power structures with all others. The shared vision of students, faculty, staff, and community members contributes to six central components - research, teaching, service, campus and community programming, connections, and policy development. The central components serve to cultivate a more inclusive, respectful, and supportive campus and community.
