Communication Open Houses

The University of New Haven provides a unique on-campus visit opportunity for students interested in our Communication program.

These visits will allow prospective and accepted students to meet the Department Chair and Film Producer- Tom Garrett and a host of other faculty, hear from current students in the major, tour our State-of-the-Art production studios, convergent media center, film & editing suites, and radio station, as well as, experience a simulated course.

Focus on the Media Career of Your Choice

We offer both a B.A. in Communication and a B.S in Communication, which teaches highly sought-after production skills. Each degree has its own concentrations so that you can focus on the media career of your choice:

Laurel Vlock Center for Convergent Media

The University of New Haven's Laurel Vlock Center for Convergent Media is a key resource for Communication students. The Center allows students to combine the technologies that integrate radio, television, newspapers and the Internet. Students also learn to write, plan production, edit video, and post their mixed media to the Internet. With the training and education of this newest technology, our students will be well-prepared as professionals in communication offices and newsrooms.

The Vlock Center uses software such as Avid Media Composer, EP Movie Magic Scheduling 6, Adobe Creative Suite 6, Adobe After Effects, Audacity and Apple Final Cut Pro.
