Joe graduated in May of 2014 with a B.S. in Communication, concentrating on Film and Television Production. During his time at the University of New Haven, Joe was fortunate enough to have studied abroad in Iceland, as well as participate in the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF). Joe’s SURF project was to collect video documentation of the Natural History of the Island of San Salvador, Bahamas (see photos below).
The experiential education opportunities available at the University of New Haven are second to none. The University of New Haven has provided me with the tools, opportunities, and knowledge to be successful in my career, and for that I am extremely grateful.
Joe also served as a photographer/videographer at the Beckerman Recreation Center, and president of the Photography Club. Joe reflects that his experiential learning at the University of New Haven helped him by providing hands-on experience in real-world environments relevant to his career path. He acknowledges that these opportunities have taught him all aspects, from start to finish, of film, television, and photography assignments alongside mentors who are professionals in their fields. Joe currently works as a Production Assistant in the Fairfield University Media Center and a Freelance Camera Operator at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT. He is frequently hired for freelance photography or video projects by the University of New Haven.
