Writer to Writer is a peer-tutoring program inspired by the belief that all writers struggle and can benefit from talking through their ideas.

We are here to work with you at any stage in the writing process; just bring in your assignment, your ideas, and any writing you've done so far. Tutors are undergraduate students at the University of New Haven majoring in Criminal Justice, National Security, Chemical Engineering, Communications, Forensic Psychology, English, Legal Studies, Music Industry, and Forensic Science. Our one-on-one appointments with writers take place in quiet locations on campus like Westside Hall, The BSAC, and Peterson Library. With about 90 appointments available each week, you will surely find one that works with your schedule.

Abdullah Almalki

Hello everyone my name is Abdullah Almalki I’m from Saudi Arabia. Arabic is my first language. My major is Business Management and I’m in my first year in the University of New Haven. I love English and I think it’s very nice to be a tutor where I can improve my language and help other students, especially students who are native Arabic speakers. I’m here for you, to help you if you have any writing issues. Please don’t hesitate to take an appointment with me at any time. 

 

Kyle Bartone

Hey everyone! My name is Kyle Bartone and I’m currently a Junior here at the University of New Haven. I’m majoring in Forensic Psychology and Juvenile and Family Services with a minor in English Literature, but I can help you with almost any type of writing! There are tons of tips and tricks to improve any piece you are working on. On campus I am the Media Relations Specialist for the Honors Program, a Diversity Peer Educator, and the President of the Italian Heritage and Culture Club. I am also involved with the Student Conduct Board. I’m currently a second-year tutor with this program and I am super excited to continue and work with more writers. Being a tutor has taught me so much about being available to listen to other people, look at issues in a more abstract way, and use my knowledge of different writing processes and tricks to help other writers improve their work. My appointments are very relaxed and easygoing, so don’t be shy! I’d love to work with you and help you in any way I can. 

 

Aemin Becker

Hello writers! My name is Aemin Becker. I am a junior majoring in Political Science, National Security and Global Studies with minors in Russian and Sociology. I am from Kinnelon, New Jersey. This is my second year working as a tutor for Writer to Writer. In addition to Writer To Writer, I am the Academic Peer Mentor (APM) for Botwinik Hall, president of the Political Science Organization and Editor-In-Chief for our Model United Nations program. I enjoy taking classes, learning new languages and solving puzzles, among many other things. I believe that writing skills are incredibly important. Good communication skills are essential for having a successful career. I enjoy working with writers on all different types of assignments, whether it is a research paper or a reflective piece. I hold my hours in the BSAC (the building between Bixler and Botwinik) and hope to see you at an appointment soon! 

 

 

Julia Benitez

Hello! My name is Julia Benitez and I am a junior majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. This is my second year as a peer tutor and I am looking forward to continue helping you with your writing assignments. I am fluent in both English and Spanish, and I have always loved to express myself and share my thoughts using words. As an engineering major I have experience with technical memos, lab reports, and essays. I can give you a lot of tips that will help you improve your writing skills and make you feel more comfortable when submitting a paper. Feel free to ask a lot of questions because I will be more than happy to answer them. We can go through your first draft together or discuss some of your ideas before working on your assignment. Everett Bishop

Hey everybody! My name is Everett Bishop, and I am a sophomore here at the University of New Haven. I am currently majoring in Communications and English, so you can probably tell that I enjoy writing. I am from a tiny town in upstate New York, so the buzz and movement of New Haven is very cool and exciting to me! In my spare time I love listening to music and just hanging out with my friends. I am looking forward to tutoring this year because I like being able to help others, especially if it is with something I enjoy and excel at. I am here to help you with just about any paper or essay that you need to write and I am excited to meet you! 

 

Jen Ciasullo

Hi my name is Jen Ciasullo. I’m a junior with a double major in Global Studies and History and a minor in Political Science. I am from Horsham, Pennsylvania, which is a small town just outside of Philly. This is my first year tutoring but because of my majors, I am very used to reading and working with papers. Since highschool, I have helped my friends with their writing and I hope to be able to continue helping people in all the different fields. I love soccer and trivia and usually have a piece of trivia for anyone who asks. I look forward to working with you and hope that we can both grow together as writers. 

 

Aniruddah Kalburgi

Hey everyone! My name is Aniruddha Kalburgi and I am a Sophomore here at the University of New Haven. I am majoring in Computer Engineering so that I can set this up as a base on which I can build my career. I am from India and an international student so any of you international students who are having trouble in setting up your paper or unsure how to go about it, I’m here to help. Rose-Emma Lambridis

Hello writers! My name is Rose-Emma Lambridis and I’m a Sophomore majoring in Theater and minoring in English. I am from Brooklyn, so my two major food groups are bagels and pizza. I have experience writing and helping friends construct various essays, reflections, research papers, and creative assignments. I thoroughly enjoy writing because I am able to express my thoughts and ideas in a collected way. Outside of tutoring, I am part of Alpha Lambda Delta and I am a Resident Assistant for the Office of Residential Life! Pedro Martinez

Hello writers, my name is Pedro Martinez. I am currently a Sophomore majoring in Civil Engineering. I enjoy learning math and science, but I also have a passion for writing. Writing allows me to speak clearly and directly through written words of enlightenment, courage, purpose, and respect. I have experience writing essays, lab reports, and technical memos from my English, Chemistry, and Engineering classes. If you need help or have any questions or concerns on your writing, I will always be willing to help! Yes, I am aware that writing assignments can be challenging, but you will become a better writer by learning your mistakes and I will also become a better writer by practicing and elevating the writing skills I have learned. Jessica McDade

Hey writers, my name is Jessica. I am from the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts, and I'm currently a junior, double majoring in Legal Studies and Forensic Psychology. I hope to continue my education into law school, and in preparation, I have plenty of experience in writing legal and professional papers, along with current events and analytical papers. I am really passionate about writing. I'm currently an editor for the University of New Haven's HerCampus chapter and I am a regular contributor to RATs magazine. I am really excited to begin helping others here fall in love with writing as much as I do! In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, running, binge watching my favorite television shows and movies, and spending time with family and friends. Jordan Schwed

Hey friends! My name is Jordan Schwed and I am a senior majoring in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Investigative Services, a minor in English, and certificates in Forensic Computer Investigation and also in Law Enforcement Science. I am from Norristown, Pennsylvania, which is just outside of Philadelphia. I am a member of the Honors Program, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Honor Society for Experiential Education, Cru, Gamma Sigma Alpha Greek National Honor Society, American Criminal Justice Association, and am a founding member, Chaplain, and Community Service Committee Chair for Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. I love to hike, play soccer, frisbee, and tennis, and of course read and write (bonus point if you like 1984)! While my major has provided me with tools to assist in technical writing, my minor has also equipped me with the ability to support and help in all types of writing. Kerry Silva

Hello, my name is Kerry Silva. I am a graduate student and Research Assistant in the Cell and Molecular Biology program. I graduated from Assumption College with a major in biotechnology. As a thesis track student I have experience writing lab reports, thesis proposals, and research summaries. Through my time in both laboratory and in academics I have developed an affinity for scientific primary article research and experimental design. In addition to being a dedicated biology student, I am also a Spin Instructor for ChargerRec, a swim coach, and a rookie triathlete. I specialize in scientific writing, but please feel free to book an appointment with me for other subjects as well! Although a science major, I am an avid reader and have also excelled in many liberal arts classes involving plenty of writing. I look forward to helping writers improve their writing skills to succeed in both current and future writing ventures. 

 

Rebekah Stafford

Hey guys! My name is Rebekah. I am currently a sophomore at the university and I'm pursuing a major in Psychology with a minor in English. I absolutely love writing, music, and binge watching TV shows. I am also a member of Alpha Lambda Delta! As a sophomore in high school I struggled with my writing became a little discouraged in my abilities. As a junior, I actively worked towards improving my writing with an encouraging and understanding teacher. The effort that I put in helped boost my confidence and develop my writing skills. I hope that I can provide the same help in encouraging and enabling you to build your own skills so that you may progress in your current and future writing endeavors! Kiera Terrell

Hi Writers! My name is Kiera Terrell and I am a Senior from Long Island, NY. I am an English and Theatre Performance Double Major, Pre-Education. I am extremely involved on campus: I work in the office of Undergraduate Admissions, I am a sister of Alpha Sigma Alpha, I am a member of the National English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta, Theater Club and I am almost always involved with the Theater Department’s productions. My education is extremely important to me and I strive to be a good student in all of my classes. I understand that for some students, writing classes can be especially frustrating, therefore my goal as a tutor is to help writers alleviate frustration and anxiety when it comes to writing assignments, so that each writer can make individual progress and achieve their version of success. As you can tell, I am very passionate about writing and helping others, and I look forward to meeting you soon!

 

Cy Tharp

Location: I hold my hours in the BSAC.  

Hello, my name is Cy and I am a triple major studying Forensic Science, Pre-Medical Biology, and English/Writing. I’ve worked on papers ranging from lab reports and academic assignments, all the way up to creative pieces, articles, and books. During my time at the University of New Haven I’ve researched race in the collective works of Mark Twain, leading to a publication in Penn State’s Mark Twain Annual in 2014. I also researched, and continue to research, gender throughout history and cross-culturally for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship during the summer of 2015. This research resulted in a chapbook publication (November 2015), as well as an article on the subject. Aside from traditional writing techniques, I also have a background in web design and LaTeX.

 

Emily Wible

Hello Writers! My name is Emily Wible. This is my first year as a peer tutor and I’m excited to learn and grow with you! I am a sophomore double majoring in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Investigative Services and National Security Studies. I also am part of the Honors Program, Alpha Lambda Delta, intramural soccer, and Pineapple Johnny’s Improv/Comedy Club. I’m from Columbia, Maryland which is about halfway between Baltimore and Washington D.C. I love theatre, soccer, puzzles, and reading--especially science fiction and dystopian fictions. I think having good communication and writing skills is necessary for everyday life as well as advancing your career and future. As a Criminal Justice major, I will be able to help with reports or similar assignments. Also, I would be happy to help with any writing you need to do for any National Security classes. I can also help with whatever other assignments you might have. I look forward to working with you! 

 

Katy Zicker

Hi writers! My name is Katy Zicker and I am a sophomore here at the University of New Haven. I am double majoring in Marine Biology and Environmental Science and minoring in Chemistry. I plan on continuing my education to get my Master’s Degree or Doctorate in something relating to conservation. A little background about myself is that I was adopted from China when I was eighteen months old and since then I have grown up in Parsippany, New Jersey with numerous pets. I have experience with writing lab reports (go science) and academic papers. I am a member of Alpha Lambda Delta and the Marine Biology Club, but in my spare time, I love solving puzzles, taking photographs, reading, and watching shows on Netflix. As this is my first year of being a tutor, I hope to be able to learn and grow with you. Don’t be afraid to ask any questions and I look forward to meeting with you!
