I would like to personally introduce our Accounting program to you and share some highlights of what makes our program different from others.
The Accounting program at the University of New Haven offers two unique opportunities. First, as an undergraduate accounting major, you can take as many as 36 academic credit hours in accounting education. This meets or exceeds the academic hour requirement for the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam in most states. This means you can obtain all the accounting credits needed at the undergraduate level (in four years) at the University of New Haven as an Accounting Major. Many schools require you to complete a fifth year to do this.
Should your interests lie in the corporate accounting field then the 36 accounting credit hours also give you the opportunity to begin the process of attaining a CMA (Certified Managerial Accountant) credential as a senior, before you even graduate!
Our second opportunity is for those who have an interest in forensic accounting or fraud accounting you can combine courses offered at the world renowned Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences here at the University of New Haven. Those courses provide training in investigation, white collar crime and financial crimes. You can also combine this with courses in forensic psychology if the area of the criminal mind is of interest. There are many minors and certificates available in these areas to add credentials to your diploma.
Due to the explosion of white collar crime, terrorism, security fraud, insurance fraud, identity theft, computer crime, government corruption and tax evasion the need for qualified accounting professionals in this area is greater than at any other time in our country's history.
If you would like to come visit the University of New Haven, our Admissions team has many events, tours and information sessions to choose from. If you would like to meet some current accounting students, some of the faculty, or even visit a class our Admissions team can arrange that as well.
Lastly if I personally can answer any questions you have please do not hesitate to contact me. Email is fastest so my email address is MRolleri@newhaven.edu.
I look forward to the opportunity to show you exactly how unique our Accounting Program is and how it can prepare you for the many career opportunities that there are in accounting.
