The purpose of the University of New Haven Collegiate Chapter of the American Marketing Association shall be: 


  • To foster scientific study and research in the field of marketing
  • To develop sound thinking in marketing theory and more exact knowledge and definition of marketing principles
  • To improve the methods and techniques of marketing research
  • To develop better public understanding and appreciation of marketing problems
  • To study and discuss legislation and judicial decisions regarding marketing
  • To improve marketing personnel
  • To record progress in marketing through the publication of outstanding papers
  • To encourage and uphold sound, honest practices, and to keep marketing operations on a high ethical plane
  • To promote friendly relations between students, faculty, and business people

 

The University of New Haven Chapter, of the American Marketing Association is open to all undergraduate and graduate students of the University of New Haven. We are an all campus student association committed to experiential learning and academic excellence in all aspects of marketing. We are the association where you can start getting a sense of marketing right from your freshman year. You may decide to take up a marketing elective in your sophomore year and even consider a marketing major or minor at the University of New Haven.

Let's face it - no matter whether you are a forensic investigator, law enforcement officer, engineer, liberal arts or music major - marketing skills are crucial for you to convey and convince your "target" market. We welcome you to join us in our pursuit of experiential learning in Marketing by attending exciting events, talks and networking for appropriate internships in industry.

Marketing includes advertising, business to business marketing, consumer behavior, services marketing, sales and promotion, and marketing research among others.

What is the American Marketing Association?

The American Marketing Association (AMA), the world's largest and most inclusive professional society of marketers was founded in 1937. AMA  has nearly 50,000 members worldwide. The Connecticut Chapter of the American Marketing Association was founded in 1952. (http://www.amact.org/). Its members are from across Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. The Fairfield County Chapter serves the southwestern region of the state.

The AMA at the University of New Haven was registered with the AMA headquarters in April 2006.

To promote the marketing profession with students of University of New Haven, organize chapter meetings and events, to bring the latest in the theory and practice of marketing to students at University of New Haven and promote experiential learning of marketing for all students of the university.
