New York Foundation for the Arts
NYC based arts organizations post internship and job opportunities on this site.  Most opportunities are museum and gallery related.  Free to register.

Walters Art Museum
Baltimore's Walters Art Museum, located in Mount Vernon, provides both paid and unpaid internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate-level students.  The competitive paid internship takes place each summer, the deadline for which is in February.  Unpaid internships are available year-round.  The deadlines are as follows: for fall-- July; for January term-- October; spring-- November; summer-- April.

Kennedy Center
About 20 students and recent graduates pursuing performing arts management and/or arts education intern at the famed Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. each semester.  Internships are full-time and last three to four months; interns receive a stipend of $225 a week.  The deadlines are as follows: for fall-- June; for winter/spring-- October; summer-- March.

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra
Part-time internships in arts administration at the BSO include e-commerce, promotions marketing, graphic design, and public relations.

Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance
GBCA lists jobs, internships, volunteer opportunities and events related to the arts.

Wide Angle Youth Media
This Baltimore City non-profit organization connects youth with education in media arts, including photography and videography.  They are accepting members for their Mentoring Video Project.

Dance USA
A dance service organization with headquarters in DC.  Satellite offices are in NYC, DC and Philadelphia. Local jobs and internships are listed for each.

Americans for the Arts
A job bank with nationwide internship opportunities.

Theater website that also has job listings.  Most job listings are in New York and New England regions.  Search also available for internship listings.

Smithsonian Institution
Details about the Smithsonian Institution's selective internship program, including locations and dates, can be found here.  A few tips for applying to the Smithsonian institution's internship programs: some museum experience is very helpful; internships are less competitive during the fall and spring and are rare during the winter; apply three months in advance; deadlines are generally 7/15 for the fall, 10/15 for the spring and 2/15 for the summer.

Smithsonian Alternative Winter Break Program

The Alternative Winter Break Program provides an opportunity for students located in the DC area during the winter break to spend time at the Museum contributing to the on-going activities of the NMNH community. Project focus and intensity varies greatly. An intern can work 1-5 weeks and should contact Mark Sangrey the Head of the Office of Academic Services at sangreym@si.edu if interested.

Nana Projects

The Nana Projects internships are studio based informal training and work experience.  The positions also include support staff tasks for current projects and my include work as technical crew, workshop assistant and light office work, dependent on current productions. Internships are typically 12-15 weeks long and require 8-10 hours per week. Contact molly@nanaprojects.com for more detailed information about the internships.

Arts Leadership Program

Working with Art on Purpose, Interns will advise and mentor Baltimore city middle school and high school students in exploring the relationship between their art and their city. The internship includes working on several summer projects that would include (but not be limited to) the following tasks: art handling, installation and de-installation of shows, promotion, and staffing events.
