Commencement Day Info and Schedule

The University of New Haven’s Spring 2017 Commencement will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre, located at 95 South Turnpike Road, Wallingford, CT.

Guest Tickets are Required for Spring Commencement

  • Tickets and academic regalia (cap and gown) are available for pick-up at Charge Out on April 18 from 1-6 p.m. in the David A. Beckerman Center.
  • All guests, including children 2 years of age and older, will require a ticket for entrance to Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, CT.
  • Students participating in the Commencement ceremony do not need a ticket, but must bring their academic regalia (cap, gown, tassel and hood – if a graduate student) to the Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre on commencement day.

General Information

  • Please show respect - We ask that all students participating in the Commencement ceremony and their guests remain in their seats throughout the entire ceremony.
  • Individuals who engage in inappropriate or disruptive behavior may be removed from the area.
  • Please silence all electronic devices.
  • Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
  • Beach balls, horns and other noise makers will not be permitted in Oakdale Theatre.
  • Please note that due to the number of guests at each ceremony, entering and exiting the parking lots will take extra time. Please plan to arrive early and if you are making restaurant reservations for after the ceremonies, please take into account extra time to exit the parking lots.

Commencement Day - MORNING CEREMONY Schedule

College of Arts and Sciences and Tagliatela College of Engineering

7:00 a.m.

Students who live in off-campus housing and need a ride from the University to Oakdale Theatre, must contact Campus Police at (203) 932-7014 no later than 7:45 a.m.

7:30 a.m.

Student buses will leave main campus for Oakdale Theatre for those needing a ride. Buses will pick students up in front of Maxcy Hall.

7:45 a.m.

Doors to Oakdale Theatre lobby and Dome will open for guests.

8:00 a.m.

Doors to the Theatre will open for seating – no guest will be admitted without a ticket. Seating is not assigned – it is open seating with a ticket.

9:00 a.m.

All students participating in the morning ceremony must be checked in and lined-up.

9:10 a.m.

Announcements will be made.

9:15 a.m.

The doors to the Theatre will close and remain closed until the conclusion of the procession – all guests must be in their seats.

9:30 a.m.

Procession and ceremony to begin and will last approximately 2 hours.

11:30 a.m. (approx.)

Morning ceremony to end.

Commencement Day - AFTERNOON CEREMONY Schedule

College of Business and H. C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Science

1:00 p.m.

Students who live in off-campus housing and need a ride from the University to Oakdale Theatre, must contact Campus Police at (203) 932-7014 no later than 12:15 p.m.

1:30 p.m.

Student buses will leave main campus for Oakdale Theatre for students needing a ride. Pick up in front of Maxcy Hall.

1:30 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE: Afternoon graduates and their guests should NOT arrive prior to this time, as parking lots may not be cleared or open.

1:45 p.m.

Doors will open to Oakdale Theatre for the afternoon ceremony.

2:00 p.m.

Doors to the Theatre will open for seating – no guest will be admitted without a ticket. Seating is not assigned – it is open seating with a ticket.

3:00 p.m.

All students participating in the afternoon ceremony must be checked in and lined-up.

3:10 p.m.

Announcements will be made.

3:15 p.m.

The doors to the Theatre will close and remain closed until the conclusion of the procession – all guests must be in their seats.

3:30 p.m.

Procession and ceremony to begin and will last approximately 2 hours.

5:30 p.m. (approx.)
