I chose the University of New Haven because it has an excellent curriculum to advance my education in the area of operations management and manufacturing. The small class sizes were also very appealing. I knew a couple friends who were attending the University of New Haven, and they were happy with their experiences. After a few days into my first semester, I knew that I made the right decision by coming to the University of New Haven.
Learning is a never-ending process. I have enjoyed attending all of my classes. Operations research with Dr. Ridvan Gedik has been one of the best classes I’ve ever experienced. The class taught the decision science of linear programming, queuing theory, transportation and assignment problems and game theory. This course is helping me to work on an ongoing research project with Dr. Gedik.
All my professors have been great, but Dr. Erdil Nadiye has been my favorite. She has provided an excellent learning experience by including real-life examples, software learning and classroom activities. I found her very motivating, caring and a wonderful personal guide for every student.
I have learned that education is more than book study. Each class features passionate professors, excellent teaching methods, active software learning, project work, literature reviews, workshops, group exercises and lab work. Operations management, six sigma, lean manufacturing, system simulation and quality analysis are key factors that I’ve learned in my program. These topics/courses would be interesting and helpful for incoming students to advance their career by developing managerial and decision making tendencies. My academic experience with the University of New Haven has exceeded all of my expectations.
My ultimate goal is to join a family-owned manufacturing firm and to one day become a successful entrepreneur. My time at the University of New Haven has provided me many opportunities to network. I strongly believe my University of New Haven degree will help to provide me a foundation to become a successful professional in the manufacturing sector. The opportunity to pursue this degree is helping me to get closer to my goals.
The International Student Association has helped me a lot during time at the University of New Haven. This organization helped to get me acclimated to living in the United States, and the orientation program they planned was helpful to learn about different departments at the University. I have most enjoyed the cultural diversity on campus. I am very happy that Graduate Student Services is actively organizing and celebrating many of the festivals and traditions of cultures from around the world. I am very thankful to Dr. Maria-Isabel Carnasciali for providing me an opportunity to work as a graduate assistant with her. My work has given me chance to interact with professionals in my field. These positive experiences and relationships that I’ve gained here are my best memories of my time at the University of New Haven.
