Artist Statement

Currently my work is focused on the exploration of the real. I create paintings that reference only themselves and their intrinsic value rather than any metaphor, image or existing object.  As the maker I determine a paintings material qualities based on my own insight, experiences and taste. The audience is then free to interpret the meaning and significance of my work through the lens of their own sensibilities, understanding and desires.

In pushing the boundaries of painting as a “thing in the world”, I incorporate the use of a variety of non-traditional media and support surfaces.  Silicon, gels, experimental pigments and additives are all part of the ingredients I employ to bring my work to fruition.
