The Freeman Awards for Study in Asia is designed to support U.S. based undergraduates with demonstrated financial planning to study in East or Southeast Asia

Must currently receive need-based financial aid and must submit the Estimated Family Contribution (FEC) figure, calculated through FAFSA, with the statement of financial need through the Freeman-ASIA program
 

Must be an undergraduate student with a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA, and pursuing their first associate's or bachelor's degree at a two-year or four-year higher education institute

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is a competitive federal scholarship program that offers grants to U.S. citizen undergraduates of limited financial means to pursue academic studies or internships abroad

 Applicants must be U.S. citizens and undergraduate students receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college/university

Must be studying or interning abroad for at least four weeks (28 days) in one country and no longer than an academic year

Must be planning to study in a country not on the U.S. Department of State's current Travel Warning list

Boren Scholarship

The Boren Scholarships provide unique federal funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad.

 Must be a U.S. citizen at time of application

Must be enrolled in a degree program within the U.S. that is accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education

Students must remain in their degree program for the duration of the scholarship and may not graduate until the scholarship is complete

$8,000 for summer programs (STEM students only)

$10,000 for semester-long programs

DAAD Undergraduate Scholarship

This scholarship seeks to provide funding for undergraduate study abroad, research, and internships in Germany

Students must be second-year or third-year students that will be in their third or fourth year during their stay in Germany. Students can seek aid for a 4-10 month period

Students should have a well-defined plan of study, research, or internship for their stay in Germany

Germany proficiency is encouraged but not required

Monthly stipend of €650, plus additional funds to help with research/travel funds

DAAD Research Internship in Science and Engineering Scholarship (RISE)

This is an extension of the DAAD scholarship for science and engineering majors

Students must be second-year or third-year students that will be in their third or fourth year during their stay in Germany. Students can seek aid for a 4-10 month period. 

Must be a science or engineering major

Students should have a well-defined plan of study, research, or internship for their stay in Germany

Germany proficiency is encouraged but not required

Diversity Abroad Overseas Ambassador Scholarship

The Overseas Ambassador Program is a initiative created for currently students or recent graduates who are planning to study, intern, volunteer or teach abroad

 Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents who are full-time undergraduates at a U.S. university of community college

Must have a cumulative 2.75 GPA

Must be accepted to a study abroad, intern abroad, language immersion, or volunteer abroad program through a DiversityAbroad.com Partner Organization

FEA was created to address the need for independent study abroad scholarships. The scholarship seeks to aid individuals who plan to travel to non-traditional locations

Study abroad program must be at least four weeks in length

Fund for Education Abroad Rainbow Scholarship

FEA partners with NAFSA Rainbow SIG and the Silver Lining Fund to provide a scholarship for LGBTQ undergraduate study abroad

Study abroad program must be eligible for credit at the student's home educational institution

Study abroad program must be at least four weeks in length

CEA Scholarships

CEA is a study abroad provider program that offers merit-based, need-based, and diversity-based scholarships for students in their study abroad programs

GPA requirements differ for each scholarship (2.5+)

Must submit letters of recmmendation

Essays/statements usually required for each scholarship

Must have completed a CEA study abroad application and submitted all necessary materials on time

Candidates may not apply for more than one scholarship per term

Summer programs: $400-$1,000

Semester: $500 - $3,000

API Scholarships

API is a study abroad provider offering a variety of scholarships to students participating in their study abroad programs

Students may apply to multiple API scholarships, but may only receive one and total aid received from API cannot exceed $1,000

CIEE Scholarships

CIEE is a study abroad provider with merit-based and research scholarships and grants to offer to students participating in their study abroad programs

Students applying to a CIEE program can select a scholarship during the application process

Education New Zealand: Study Abroad Travel and Excellence Awards

This scholarship is for students planning to study abroad in New Zealand to discover new learning opportunities and develop global perspective

Must be a U.S. citizen or hold U.S. Resident status

Must be at least a sophomore at a U.S. higher education institution

Must submit a satisfactory medical information form and physician's statement

Minimum GPA: 3.0

Critical Language Scholarship Program

This scholarship fully funds studies for undergraduates seeking to studying and mastering critical relationships while building international relationships
