As a management and behavioral science discipline, labor relations is concerned with all aspects of the employment relationship, particularly an organization’s maintenance of human resources. The Labor Relations program in the Department of Public Management comprises 10 courses that cover a broad spectrum of topics in collective bargaining, economics of labor relations, human resource management, organizational change, personnel administration, and more. This interdisciplinary program will teach you to solve problems, maintain harmony, and resolve conflicts among employees, employers, government and, where applicable, unions.
This degree is for people employed in, or aspiring to, positions in all types of organizations in the following fields:
• Training and development
• Wage and salary administration
• Employee services and benefits
• Labor–management relations
• Job and organizational design
• Labor economics
• Manpower planning
Students in the program enjoy small class sizes and learn from highly educated practitioners with a wealth of industry experience.
The program may be completed in as little as one year on a full-time basis on the University’s graduate trimester schedule. Classes meet weeknights to accommodate working students.
