New Haven Register, March 17, 2012: UNH professor John DeCarlo discusses a bill up for legislative review which would change the way eyewitnesses to crimes are shown mugshots. Suspects should be shown sequentially, one at a time, instead of simultaenously. Simultaneous identification “does not have a huge effect on the identification of a guilty person,” says DeCarlo, but does reduce the chance of a witness identifying an innocent person.
