New Haven Register, April 11, 2012: 1,100 backpacks were laid out on the ground earlier this week at UNH in commemoration of young suicide victims nationally. The exhibition in the Bixler/Botwinik Quad was called “Send Silence Packing.” Elizabeth Field, 20, a UNH junior from Villa Park, Calif., and president of the UNH chapter of Active Minds, said the 1,100 backpacks represent the roughly 1,100 suicides annually by students in the United States.
