Stuart Sidle, member of UNH's industrial/organizational psychology faculty cautions companies like Adobe who abolish performance reviews in favor of informal, ongoing dialogue between employees and managers  to be careful that such a system doesn't come to be viewed as merely an increase in the number of performance appraisals. "What you don't want to do is start making people feel like they are having continuous performance appraisals," he says.
