Majora Carter will discuss the vital economic, environmental, equality, and political issues at play in and around the "hometown."  In addition to a multitude of issues, she will touch upon topics concerning urban (re)development, security policy, food, energy, sustainability, and the need to take a serious look at investment in urban areas.

Born and raised in the South Bronx, Carter is a preeminent environmental entrepreneur and has major projects in some of the most distressed urban locations in the country. She is the recipient of a MacArthur Foundation "genius" award and president of The Majora Carter Foundation, dedicated to raising awareness and effecting significant, positive change in American urban areas.

Ms. Carter will address the University community on Monday, 9/16 at 5 PM in the Beckerman Recreation Center.
