Fulbright Visiting Scholar Gisela Umbuzeiro, University of Campinas, Brazil will give a lecture on "Emerging Contaminants: What are they and what are their risks?" on March 6, 2014  4:30pm in Bartels Hall (Glassed-In Student Dining Room).

Emerging contaminants are compounds that we have only recently discovered to be present in water resources, and therefore humans and the aquatic biota are exposed to them. Some can cause adverse effects at concentrations lower than one part per trillion. In this seminar, Prof. Umbuzeiro will discuss the major emerging contaminants, their sources and potential effects.
