Street Robberies in New Haven
In 2005 downtown New Haven experienced numerous incidents of large groups of youths riding bicycles and robbing pedestrians. Recently they have had several similar incidents occur in the Fair Haven section of the city. Additionally, Yale Police have reported 4-5 incidents of “bike packs” (large groups of youths on bikes) stopped in the downtown area and pellet guns were seized. While visiting New Haven students are advised to increase awareness of their surroundings, stay on main roads, walk in groups and if you observe these so-called “bike packs” contact the New Haven Police immediately.
