Notetaking Accommodation

Having a Notetaker as a Reasonable Accommodation

A notetaker is considered an academic accommodation, put in place to give a student with a disability equal access to academic lecture. This reasonable accommodation is put in place (and required by law) so that students, who cannot adequately provide notes for themselves, will have class notes comparable to what others in the course have; this is so they have the equal opportunity to be as successful in the class as others.

CAS determines if a student is eligible for this and/or other academic accommodations once a student has followed the appropriate procedures for requesting reasonable accommodations.
