The Delta Chi Fraternity, Inc. was founded in 1890 at Cornell University. Originally a law fraternity, its basic philosophy is based on education, character, justice and friendship. The New Haven Chapter of Delta Chi was chartered on October 17, 1981 and has many alumni, including UNH staff members Jon Gondor, Timothy Palmbach, and Martin J. O'Connor.
The brothers of the New Haven Delta Chi are very active in the West Haven community. They sponsor an Annual American Red Cross Blood Drive and have record turnouts of donors thanks to all the students and staff. The brothers continue community service efforts with helping out a yard clean-ups, the Special Olympics, and participating in the MS Charitable Walk.
During the summer of 2007, The Delta Chi Fraternity, Inc. held its bi-annual leadership college in Iowa City, Iowa and the New Haven chapter received numerous awards including community service excellence and philanthropy recognition. This past summer the brothers attended their 56th convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The fraternity holds many social and intramural events with the sisters of Delta Phi Epsilon, Phi Sigma Sigma, and Chi Kappa Rho with events ranging from Monday Night Football parties, flag football, kickball, hiking up the Sleeping Giant Mountain, and going to haunted houses. The brothers are dedicated to the improvement of Greek Life on and off campus as they are very active in the IFSC, and very close to the many brothers in the New England area including UCONN, Bryant, and UMASS.
