International Student Orientation

August 19 – 25, 2019

Document Check-in

Document Check-in is required for all new F-1 and J-1 international students*. All students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of these check in times prior to the start of classes on August 26, 2019.

Please bring your passport, I-20 (F-1) or DS-2019 (J-1), and your I-94 to the International Services Office (ISO) at 19 Ruden Street, Lower Level at one of the following times:

Early Check-in: August 5 to August 9

  • Monday - Wednesday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. (Myatt Center)
  • Thursday, August 8, 8:30 - 4:30 (19 Ruden Street)
  • Friday, August 9, 8:30 to 1:30 (19 Ruden Street)

Regular Check-in: August 12 to August 23 (19 Ruden Street)
Monday through Friday 8:30 - 4:30

  • Monday, August 19, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 20, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 21, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., and 3:00 - 5:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 22, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday, August 23, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

* Failure to comply with Document Check In could result in a visa violation. Failure to attend the required orientation sessions will result in a HOLD on your student account.

  • All new graduate students are required to attend orientation.

  • Check in with the ISO booth at the Graduate Student Resource Fair and get a free gift!
  • Look for announcements about meetings with academic advisers and individual college receptions based on your program of study

  • Beckerman Recreation Center
  • Includes a mandatory visa information session for all new international students
2:30 - 4:00 p.m. Campus Tour for Incoming International Students

  • Open to all new graduate students
  • Walk along the wharf, visit the Canal Dock Boathouse, eat at the taco trucks, shop at IKEA.
