Endowed Scholarships

Donors who wish to help students and, at the same time, establish a lasting memorial may endow a scholarship. The scholarship may be established in your name or the name of the individual you wish to honor. Endowed scholarships at the University may be established starting at $10,000.

At the University of New Haven, you have the opportunity to set the criteria for your endowed scholarship. For example, you may wish to direct your scholarship fund to reward high achievement students or students who need financial assistance to attend college. Other criteria for you to consider are specific academic programs or colleges, student activities/areas of academic interest, community service or hometown location. Since restrictive criteria will limit the pool of qualified recipients, you should consult with the University to make sure that your scholarship will be able to be awarded on an annual basis.

By definition, an endowed scholarship is one in which the principal remains intact and only the interest is awarded each year. Once established, your scholarship will be managed by the University. Your endowment creates a permanent funding source that will grow over time and will support deserving students today and in the future.

In addition, you will be recognized annually for your scholarship at the annual Endowed Scholarship Luncheon which takes place each fall and where you will have the opportunity to meet with your scholarship recipient.

For more information about establishing an endowed scholarship or to contribute to an existing fund, contact Roz Reaback, associate vice president for Development, at 203-932-7263 or rreaback@newhaven.edu.
