Chemistry Lab Immersion Academy

Chemistry Lab

July 19-23, 2021

Instruction Method: On-Ground

Cost: $500

Chemistry, long considered the 'central science', intersects with many other science and engineering disciplines. Chemistry is important in advancing new energy technologies, developing potential pharmaceuticals, and an understanding of how people impact the environment. While you can learn principles of Chemistry from a book, a great way to understand and appreciate Chemistry is through experimentation. Join us for this weeklong laboratory experience and learn valuable lab skills, see how Chemistry is connected to other disciplines, and explore the wonderful world of Chemistry. It's a great opportunity for students who did not get a lab experience in high school due to the pandemic or those interested in enhancing their lab skills before college.

Participants will:

  • Learn how to use the tools and techniques of modern chemists
  • See exciting demonstration that highlight chemical phenomena
  • Learn how chemical principles learned in HS Chemistry courses connect to Chemistry in the Lab
  • Conduct multiple, engaging laboratory experiments under the guidance of experienced Chemists
Requirements

Students must be entering 10-12th grades for the 2021-22 academic year and have a strong interest in chemistry.
