external Charger 360 October 15, 2025 Interim Head Football Coach Mark Powell and Matt Chandler ’27, a wide receiver and co-captain, joined Charger 360 to talk about the team’s first year competing in Division I. Coach Powell talked about growing up in Connecticut, the advice he received from his grandfather Connecticut coaching legend Carm Cozza, and starting his coaching career at Yale, as well as his family’s cookie shop, saying, “All roads led to New Haven.” Chandler, a Florida native and exercise science major, talked about balancing the rigors of being a student-athlete and his own journey to the University of New Haven, including following in the footsteps of his brother Jack ’23, ’25 MBA, a former Chargers quarterback, and catching a pass from him last year.
