Hartford Courant: Tipping in nontraditional places becoming ‘annoyance’ for consumers, CT experts say. ‘Huge culture shift’ September 8, 2026 Jan Jones, associate professor of practice in hospitality and tourism management, comments on a recent national survey that showed 81% of Americans feel tipping is out of control, saying “I definitely think that the tipping culture has expanded to lots of different places that it didn’t necessarily exist before, even within the same organizations.”
