  • This course uses the content from Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology, Oral Pathology, Dental Hygiene Concepts, and other courses as the basis for discussing the impact of systemic conditions on the oral cavity. The medical history will be employed in a case-study approach to address the role of the dental hygienist in medical risk assessment and management.

  • In this course, dental hygiene students have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout the dental hygiene curriculum in an internship experience compatible with future career goals.

  • This course examines the history, structure, and current issues revolving around the U.S. healthcare delivery system, with an emphasis on the delivery of oral healthcare services. It studies the barriers of achieving a high-quality healthcare system that delivers cost-effective healthcare to all populations.

  • Designed to provide dental hygiene students and practicing dental hygienists with an overview of the instructional process, this course will emphasize the steps in the instructional planning process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation), learning styles, teaching strategies, the use of media for instruction, and the development of outcome assessment tools.

  • This course is designed to provide dental hygiene students with the skills necessary to understand, interpret, and critique professional literature. The course provides an intensive, comprehensive study of the scientific research process used in the health sciences. Students will learn to be critical consumers of published research and will be expected to complete a literature review. Emphasis is placed on the design of sound research protocol.

  • This course provides the student with the opportunity to enrich their knowledge by designing, implementing, and presenting an individual or team-based project. The project and its deliverables serve to address the needs of a particular dental health or healt hcare organization/population or contribute to the academic knowledge of the dental hygiene profession. The course requirements include the team or individual’s presentation of a written and oral report that describes a problem, outlines how the problem was addressed, and presents viable solutions. All previous and current coursework will assist the student in this culminating senior capstone experience.

  • We offer a comprehensive financial aid program, with students receiving assistance in the form of grants, scholarships, student loans, and part-time employment. Funds are available from federal and state governments, private sponsors, and from university resources. More than 85 percent of the University's full-time undergraduate students receive some form of financial assistance.
