Charger 360 - Season 3, Episode 15: President Jens Frederiksen
President Jens Frederiksen joined Charger 360 to look back on his first year as president, reflecting on some of the highlights, what motivates him, and why he is so passionate about the mission of the University and the impact it is making. “I think we are delivering value in ways that very few institutions can compete with,” he said. “I absolutely love what I do, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.” As part of the wide-ranging conversation, he also talked about his commitment to connecting with students, particularly through his new accounts on Instagram and TikTok, and the songs on his current playlist, as well as his time as a professional athlete and how that motivates him today.
Bobby McDonald, a criminal justice lecturer, provides guidance on safety and security protocols when traveling abroad.
Nikodem Poplawski, a distinguished physics lecturer, discusses his theory that black holes are a doorway to another universe. He says the coupling between torsion, the twisting and turning of matter, and spin becomes very strong, preventing the matter from compressing indefinitely to a singularity.
The University of New Haven is recognizing the service and sacrifices of Vietnam Veterans through a series of events and initiatives leading up to the 50th anniversary of the war’s end. Faculty, students, and veterans reflect on the importance of this commemoration and the lessons it offers to future generations.
Alvin Tran, ScD, MPH, and Krupa Ann Mathew, ’25 MPH recently had the opportunity to present their research on identifying and treating eating disorders to a group of healthcare providers working in school-based health centers, earning a strong endorsement from an important Connecticut leader.
