IMPORTANT TITLE IX UPDATE
May 2020
The Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights has released new regulations regarding Title IX, the federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination and harassment within educational institutions. These new regulations were released on May 6, 2020, and took effect on August 14, 2020. Throughout the summer, the University will undergo the task of updating our Title IX and Sexual Misconduct policies and procedures to align with the new federal regulations, along with Connecticut state law, and the principles of our community.
The University of New Haven will continue to be a community committed to providing an environment that promotes excellence, responsibility, respect, understanding, integrity, and service. The University adheres to the philosophy that all community members should enjoy an environment free from sexual misconduct of any kind.
The University’s Title IX Coordinator, Jennifer Cinque, and the Dean of Students Office continue to provide services and conduct investigations in-person and remotely (consistent with COVID safety protocols). To make a report or request assistance, please contact Ashley Dunn at ADunn@newhaven.edu.
