About Bruce

In the 1980’s and 90’s, Bruce Barber was the co-host of the popular “Smith and Barber the Morning Show” on WPLR-FM in New Haven.

In the years that followed, Bruce built a home studio, taught himself digital audio production, and became an independent host and producer for Connecticut Public Radio.

Bruce joined the University of New Haven in 2016, where he is a professional in residence and the general manager of 88.7 WNHU, the University’s award-winning radio station.

Bruce oversees more than 100 students interested in broadcasting, podcasting and the radio business, and also mentors students individually by offering independent studies in the creation and marketing of audio media content.
