About Derek
A Connecticut native, Derek resides in the New Haven area with his wife and children. Having been involved in a variety of prehospital emergency care capacities over the last decade, he has been serving as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the East Haven Fire Department since 2017.
Joining the Paramedicine Program faculty in 2022, Derek has been serving in the capacity of the Clinical Coordinator. Upgraded to the position of Practitioner in Residence and Paramedicine Clinical Coordinator in 2023, he is working to vastly expand the clinical experience for the students. Being involved in emergency medical services education has allowed him to combine his passion for emergency care with teaching.
In addition to playing ice hockey and golf, Derek enjoys cruise vacations as well as maintaining an active lifestyle with his family.
