About Veronica

Veronica Douglas-Givan is an educator, Emmy award winning producer, motivational speaker, radio personality, communication specialist and the President and CEO of the Veronica Douglas Media Agency. She is the recipient of more than 300 awards for community service. In 2019 Mayor Toni Harp bestowed on her the Key to the City of New Haven.

Known as Professor *V*, Douglas-Givan teaches Principles of Communications and encourages students to use the power of their voices to make a difference in their communities and the world.

When not on campus, Veronica inspires youth and adults at the New Haven Adult and Continuing Education Center, helping them succeed in school and in life as the center’s Family Advocate and Community Outreach Specialist. An education advocate and activist for youth throughout the state, Veronica was named “Connecticut’s Champion for Children” by former Governor Jodi Rell.

Veronica started in media as a producer’s assistant at the nationally syndicated “Sally Jessy Raphael Show”. She worked in news and public affairs in Boston. For more than a decade as “Veronica King,” she hosted “Ladies Night with Veronica” the number one evening drive radio show on 94.3 FM – WYBC Radio/Yale Broadcasting.

Veronica had a long career at WTNH-TV, in New Haven, Connecticut. As Director of Special Projects, she was the manager of special news productions, and the newsroom community liaison. She wrote and produced news stories featuring people and issues throughout Connecticut. As the correspondent for Wednesday's Child, Veronica helped more than 200 children find their forever families.

Veronica is an active member of the community and a proud native of New Haven. She lives in Fair Haven Heights with her husband and son.
