Legendary Connecticut Television Broadcaster to Deliver Commencement Address at the University of New Haven

Address by Ann Nyberg of WTNH-TV is a highlight of the three-day Commencement celebration from May 9 to 11 on the University’s West Haven campus.

Ann Nyberg, the longest-serving female news anchor/reporter in Connecticut television history, will address the University of New Haven’s graduates receiving undergraduate degrees during its Commencement on Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m. in Kathy Zolad Stadium on the University’s main campus in West Haven.

As part of the ceremony, Nyberg, the Emmy-nominated anchor and reporter for WTNH-TV who founded the Toy Closet Program at Yale New Haven Hospital and is the owner of a popular boutique in Madison, will be presented an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.

An honorary Doctor of Business Administration will also be awarded to Indra K. Nooyi, a successful business executive who’s been ranked among the world’s “100 Most Powerful Women” by Forbes magazine. She served as chair and CEO of PepsiCo from 2006 until 2019. A native of India, she became the first woman of color and first immigrant to head a Fortune 50 company.

The Saturday morning ceremony recognizing graduates receiving associate and bachelor’s degrees is the culmination of a three-day on-campus Commencement celebration in which nearly 1,300 undergraduate and nearly 2,200 master’s and doctoral degrees will be conferred during four ceremonies.

Graduate and doctoral degrees will awarded on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. (Pompea College of Business); Friday at 10 a.m. (College of Arts and Sciences; Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences; and School of Health Sciences) and Friday at 4:30 p.m. (Tagliatela College of Engineering).

Student speakers, who were selected through a competitive audition process, will also address their classmates at each ceremony.
