Since its founding on the Yale University campus in 1920, the University of New Haven has steadily grown to become a thriving, top-tier comprehensive university and a national leader in experiential education.
These achievements have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report, which now lists the University of New Haven among the top comprehensive universities in the North. The University of New Haven is proud to offer world-class programs to both undergraduate and graduate students, in a variety of locations.
Founded in 1920 on the campus of Yale University in cooperation with Northeastern University, the University of New Haven moved to its current West Haven campus in 1960. Situated on 82 acres atop a hill overlooking the New Haven skyline with views of Long Island Sound, this residential campus is conveniently located a mile north of Interstate 95 between Boston and New York City.
The campus has experienced significant growth in the last decade with more than $220 million in construction projects completed or underway. Examples include three new residential halls, the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science in Gehring Hall, the David A. Beckerman Recreation Center and Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium, which features the only blue and gold artificial sprint turf in the nation.
The University of New Haven Orange Campus is located on 47 acres directly adjacent to the Wilbur Cross Parkway (between exits 55 and 56). It was acquired in 2013 and opened for classes on January 21, 2014. The campus, which is bordered by more than 300 acres of preserved forest land, offers modern classroom and study space in a professional business atmosphere.
The rustic setting offers room to spread out for collaborative and individual study
as well as social interaction space. The campus also offers a raft of amenities, including
secure parking and food service.
The University of New Haven opened its satellite campus in Tuscany, Italy, in the fall of 2012. The campus, located in the historic city of Prato, provides an exceptional opportunity for University of New Haven students to immerse themselves in the culture and language of Italy. Prato is the second-largest city in the region but it is off the beaten path for tourists, assuring an authentic Italian cultural experience.
Each semester the University sends full-time faculty to teach University of New Haven courses alongside Italian faculty.
The University of New Haven added Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts as its fine arts college in 2014, bringing a high-quality Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) program to the curriculum. Lyme Academy College provides an outstanding education in painting, sculpture, drawing and illustration through study of the history, traditions and principles of the fine arts and the liberal arts.
Its small classes, hands-on experiences, studios and exhibition spaces make it possible to become immersed in representational art. Lyme Academy College is located in the small town of Old Lyme, CT, providing an idyllic, rural setting that nurtures creativity.
The University of New Haven New London Campus has been serving the needs of business people and nearby residents for more than three decades. Located at Mitchell College in New London, the New London campus offers graduate programs geared to the needs and interests of working professionals looking to advance their knowledge and careers by pursuing an advanced degree.
Faculty and administrative offices are located at our Saw Mill Campus, along with seven classrooms and a student lounge.
The University of New Haven offers one program in New Mexico: our world-renowned M.S. in National Security. New Mexico itself is the birthplace of the atomic bomb and a leader in the U.S. nuclear program, and our location on Kirtland Air Force Base is in close proximity to Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories.
The University of New Haven, in partnership with GalvanizeU, offers a 30-credit Master of Science in Data Science in San Francisco. The master’s program is designed to train students in the skill sets required for success in the field of data science, providing the necessary background in statistics, machine learning, computer science, practical coding abilities, plus adding real world experience with industry partners, bridging the gap between academia and industry.
