We Don't Do Alternative Facts.

The University of New Haven is offering a week-long intensive journalism academy that puts high school students on the ground and running toward their journalism careers. And do we ever need good journalists.

With the help of professionals who have spent decades in print and broadcast, in one week, students will go from being cub reporters to journalists who know how to research, vet facts, interview, and write across multiple platforms. As part of a cross training in studio production, students will also take turns operating and being on camera.

The skills we’ll teach include (but are not limited to):

  • Interview techniques
  • Vetting facts
  • Finding the right sources
  • Story organization (both print and broadcast)
  • Writing for the web
  • Basics of studio production
