Housatonic Times, April 12, 2012: UNH practitioner in residence Stephen Spignesi, speaks at the Brookfield Library April 13, at 7 p.m. in a free, illustrated talk and book signing of his latest volume on the subject, “The Titanic for Dummies.”  “The sinking of the Titanic was the line of demarcation between the Gilded Age and modernity,” says Spignesi. “There was no war then, no depression, no income taxes … the Titanic was a ship of dreams. Its tragic sinking was a major wakeup call. It was also one of those seminal events in history that changed everything. Suddenly, everyone realized that human error and design errors could affect the world.”
