The addition of body cameras to a local police department's arsenal underscores a larger trend in law enforcement across the country, said Brian Smith, member of UNH's criminal justice faculty. “It’s not just a fad,” Smith said. “You’ll see it being made mandatory in some departments soon.” He listed a slew of benefits that the cameras add, including the ability to review the legitimacy of complaints.
