­­Hartford Courant (May 31): “Paying College Athletes: A Movement Grows"

The lead story in the Sunday edition featured Allen Sack, member of UNH's sports management faculty, who was interviewed on reforming college athletics. The issue of amateurism and compensating college athletes has been recently highlighted by Northwestern, a class-action lawsuit by former UCLA star Ed O'Bannon over the use of player images for commercial use, and an antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA that challenges the very notion of amateurism in college sports. The NCAA meets in August, and some sort of compensation for athletes could be approved.
