Eva Sapi, a Lyme disease expert, will be part of a panel discussion on Lyme disease that will take place on Sunday, May 4, at 10 a.m. at the Madison Art Cinemas located at 761 Boston Post Road in Madison. The panel discussion will take place after the screening of Under our Skin, a gripping documentary focused on the hidden story of Lyme Disease, one of the most serious epidemics of our time.

Each year, thousands go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Following the stories of patients and physicians fighting for their lives and livelihoods, the film brings into focus a haunting picture of the health care system and a medical establishment all too willing to put profits ahead of patients.

Dr. Sapi knows all too well the effects of this terrible disease. Nearly a decade ago, she became ill with what was later determined to be Lyme disease. Unfortunately, it took several months to make the diagnosis and determine the cause of her insomnia and impaired motor skills. The panel will feature Sapi, an associate professor of biology and environment sciences, and Kathy Reid from the Ridgefield Lyme Resource Group.

The event is free but registration is required. Register online.
