NMMI Scholarship & Tuition Discounts
All New Mexico Military Institute cadets enrolled in a University of New Haven national security bachelor’s degree will receive a minimum $24,000 guaranteed scholarship. Additional scholarships and tuition discounts available based on merit and/or other criteria.
All New Mexico Military Institute cadets who enroll in a University of New Haven national security or criminal justice master’s degree will receive a -20% tuition discount.
The National Security program offers unique courses for students seeking careers in national security by providing the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in the field. The first of its kind when it launched in 2001, the University of New Haven National Security program provides students with extensive study in national security policymaking, homeland security, international affairs, terrorism, and more. Students benefit by learning from experienced practitioners with backgrounds working in the CIA, FBI, United Nations, Department of Defense, Department of State, and various security agencies. Whether you are currently working in the security field or wish to embark on your first career, the program will prepare you with the necessary skills to succeed in the national security community.
The National Security department offers four distinct undergraduate degrees including Security & Defense Policy, Intelligence Analysis, Homeland Security, and International Affairs. In terms of a master’s degree, the department offers four different concentrations including Defensive Cyber Intelligence, Security Studies, Data Analytics, and National Security Administration.
Students may pursue a dual degree with another department or program and still remain eligible for the NMMI scholarship.
- Security & Defense Policy: Students will develop a working knowledge of the most prominent features of the global security construct and national security enterprise. Students will learn to examine the components of national security as it ranges from security policy, development, and operations.
- Intelligence Analysis: Students will obtain the analytical skills necessary in the assessment and collection, correlation, and analysis of intelligence data relating to national security, law enforcement, military affairs, and business intelligence.
- Homeland Security: Students learn to identify threats of domestic terrorism and natural disasters relating to major transportation systems, critical infrastructure, weapons of mass destruction (WMD), counterterrorism, and illegal activities by transnational criminal organizations.
- International Affairs: Designed to provide students with an applied understanding of international relations, comparative politics, and global economics. Students will develop mastery of content areas in the fields of political and economic development, national security, and diplomacy.
- Defensive Cyber Intelligence: Apply foundational knowledge of cyber security to contemporary cyber threats and cyber warfare. Students will learn to apply intelligence analysis tools to cyber defense.
- Security Studies: Categorize various types of national security threats based on intelligence and policymaking assumptions. Students will learn to assess tactics and strategies of national security policies.
- Data Analytics: Employ computer programming languages to prepare data for national security analysis. Students will learn to apply data analytical methods and social network analysis to the domain of national security.
- National Security Administration: Critically examine the evolution of national security policy and apply public administration concepts to the security domain. Students will learn to devise policy solutions to support national security agencies and principal decision-makers.
